About the Artist :

Kristi Jenson has a BA in metal and jewelry . She will be returning as a graduate student in the fall. She used to be a flight attendant. She went to  10 different elementary schools. Her hobbies include cooking and hanging out with friends. She also enjoys drinking red wine. She’s been working with metals for about two years now & it typically takes her 2 weeks to finish a piece. OH YEAH, she also has 8 tattoos!

Formal Analysis :

Kristi mainly works with metal and incorporates curved lines.  She does not have an inspiration, she said she just does whatever is assigned. She even said “I just want to graduate” while telling us she just does assignments. She enjoys working with metal over working with cloth because metal is easier to manipulate. She loves learning new things and enjoys the satisfaction of finishing a project.

Content Analysis :

Kristi’s interest in art came from watching her her grandfather fix tv’s. This inspired her to fix and makes things. She has difficultly naming her pieces and says she sucks at “art talk”. She will have more art shows once she has more experience and can be better rehearsed.

Synthesis/ My experience :

I really enjoyed her work & asking her questions. I like how honest she was while saying how she has no inspiration. Listening to her describe her work made me want to go and try and guess which ones were hers. Out of the pieces I saw that were hers I mostly enjoyed the one that looked like an onion. I started to think about how difficult and time consuming it must’ve been to manipulate the metal into that shape.
